South India with the Golden Triangle

10 days / 9 nights Price on Request Combo

Overview

North and South India on one trip — the Golden Triangle's monuments and forts followed by Kerala's backwaters and hill country, the same pairing offered under our Golden Triangle hub, listed here for South India-first planning.

Why This Journey

Many travellers comparing South India options are also weighing whether to add the north; this makes that combination easy to find and plan from either direction.

Highlights

  • The full Golden Triangle: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Amber Fort
  • A night on a private Kerala houseboat
  • Munnar's tea-estate hill country

Day by Day

  • Day 1

    Arrive Delhi

Private airport pickup and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, the rest of the day is free to rest, or we can arrange a gentle evening orientation drive past India Gate and the illuminated government buildings of Lutyens' Delhi.

  • Day 2

    Onward to Agra

Private drive from Delhi to Agra (approx. 3.5–4 hours). Afternoon visit to Agra Fort, with the Taj Mahal reserved for early the next morning when the light and the crowds are both at their best.

  • Day 3

    Onward to Jaipur

Drive from Agra to Jaipur (approx. 5–5.5 hours), with an optional stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned Mughal capital, roughly midway.

  • Day 4

    Jaipur Sightseeing

A full day of Jaipur's headline sights: Amber Fort in the morning light, then the City Palace, the Jantar Mantar observatory and a photo stop at Hawa Mahal.

  • Day 5

    Onward to Kochi

Flight from Jaipur to Kochi (via Delhi or Mumbai).

  • Day 6

    Onward to Munnar

Drive up into Munnar's tea country, climbing steadily through the Western Ghats. Afternoon at leisure among the rolling estates, with cooler evening temperatures than the coast.

  • Day 7

    Munnar Sightseeing

A visit to a working tea estate and factory to see processing up close, followed by time at Mattupetty Dam or, season permitting, a short walk toward Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri tahr.

  • Day 8

    Onward to Alappuzha

Transfer to Alappuzha and board your private houseboat for an overnight backwater cruise — Kerala's signature experience. Meals are cooked fresh on board as you drift through a landscape of palm-lined canals, paddy fields and small waterside villages.

  • Day 9

    Alappuzha Sightseeing

A slower second day on or around the backwaters, either extending the houseboat cruise or transferring to a canal-side resort for canoe trips through the narrower waterways that houseboats can't reach.

  • Day 10

    Departure

Morning at leisure in Alappuzha before a private transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

FAQs

Should we do North or South India first?

Either order works logistically; some travellers prefer easing into the trip with Kerala's slower pace before Delhi's intensity, others the reverse — tell us your preference.

Is this itinerary private or a group tour?

Fully private — your own vehicle, driver and guide, on your own schedule, not a fixed-departure group tour.

Can this be shortened or extended?

Yes. Every itinerary on this site is a starting point — tell us your available dates and we'll adjust the pace and stops accordingly.
